The dept. initially established at graduate level classes in 1965, and post graduate classes started in 2000 under self finance scheme with 6 faculties. At present dept. is facilitated with rich library having several reference books and journals, computer with internet facilities, well equipped research lab, LCD projector with Lap top, and Over head projector with power back up. Dept. completed one research project on Medicinal Plants of Chitrakoot region financially assisted by UGC. Dept has provided 8 Ph.D, and 2 M.Phil scholars in diverse field of Botany .Several research papers published from this dept. in reputed journals. In PG course Industrial microbiology opted as special papers. In research thrust areas are Environmental studies including Microbiology, Paleontology and water quality and their impact on living beings. ·
At present in this dept. one faculty is regular and two are recruited in self finance scheme. All of them work hard and engaged in active research. Annually published research papers and thus explore their work in concern scientific field. ·
Several students has got Gold medal from concern University. After completing their studies several are engaged in Job of different field. ·
Dept. annually organises visit to several research stations and arranged tour for study of Biodiversity and their Conservation for PG students. They monthly participated in Debate and Essay competitions.
